We Are Yorklyn

We aim to do what DNREC will not.

The Auburn Valley Master Plan’s original vision was to create a public/private partnership that would be sensitive to the community’s history, culture, and aesthetic. In the past 13 years DNREC has shifted the goalposts - from what was an admirable conservation effort - to a slew of financially-motived development projects that will work to undo the over $7,000,000 worth of land remediation that has been done in the Auburn Valley since 2003.

Our goal is simple: get DNREC to respect our history, environment, and future quality of life, and give Yorklyn a voice in any plan or vision that affects its community.

History

Yorklyn, DE’s history is that of a factory town. From the mid 1800s onward, it was home to a variety of factories. In 2003, Tropical Storm Henri ripped through Delaware, flooding the Yorklyn valley and ultimately precipitating the bankruptcy of NVF in 2009. That’s where this story begins.
