HISTORY
“Since the opening of the Railroad, and the advent of the iron horse, the establishment of a post office was desired by the citizens, but as there were many Auburns, in the country, application was made to Mr. Garrett to select a name for the office. He laid the matter before his daughters, whose minds materially reverted across the broad Atlantic to the old family home in England called Yorklyn, and that name was accordingly chosen for the new post office, and William T Moore duly commissioned post-master.”
